Nobody budgets for July

Financing, with the deferred-interest trap left out

A system almost never fails on a convenient date. These are the plans we offer, the rates they carry, and the one industry practice we refuse to use.

Three plans, and who each one is for

Figures are representative examples for this demo site. Your actual rate and term depend on the lender's decision.

Low rate

7.99%over 60 months

$6,400 system, from $130 a month

You want the smallest monthly figure and accept paying interest for it.

Reduced rate

9.99%over 96 months

$9,800 system, from $148 a month

A larger job, two systems, or a replacement plus ductwork in one project.

The one thing to check on any HVAC finance offer

Ask whether the promotional rate is 0% interest or deferred interest. They sound identical and they are not. With deferred interest, the lender accrues interest at the full rate from day one and quietly writes it off only if you clear the entire balance inside the promotional window. Miss it by a month, or by a dollar, and the whole accrued amount lands on your statement at once.

We do not offer deferred-interest products. If another contractor quotes you 0%, ask them that exact question and watch how quickly they answer it.

How the application works

Six steps, most of them ours

  • Step one

    Quote

A written, itemised replacement quote after the Manual J. Nothing is submitted to a lender before you have a number.

  • Step two

    Soft check

A pre-qualification that returns an indicative amount and rate in about two minutes and does not touch your score.

  • Step three

    Compare

You see every plan you qualify for side by side, including total cost of credit, not only the monthly figure.

  • Step four

    Apply

Only now does a hard inquiry happen, and only with your explicit go-ahead. Decisions are usually same day.

  • Step five

    Schedule

Approved jobs are typically installed within two to four working days, sooner in an emergency.

  • Step six

    Rebates

We file the utility rebate paperwork for you and hand you what you need for any federal credit you claim.

Financing questions

Does applying affect my credit score?

The pre-qualification is a soft inquiry and does not affect your score. It gives you an indicative amount and rate within a couple of minutes. Only if you accept an offer and proceed to a full application does a hard inquiry happen, and we will tell you clearly at that point.

What is the catch with 0% APR?

On the plan we offer, none, provided you clear the balance inside the promotional period. What you should watch for elsewhere is deferred interest, where interest accrues quietly from day one and is added in full if any balance remains at the end. We do not offer deferred-interest products, and if a competitor quotes you 0% you should ask them that exact question.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes, on every plan we offer, with no early settlement penalty. Paying down principal early reduces total interest on the interest-bearing plans and is the sensible move if your circumstances change.

Do you finance repairs, or only replacements?

Repairs above $600 can go on a plan as well. Below that the fees rarely make sense for you, and we will say so rather than sign you up to a payment schedule for a capacitor.

Are there rebates on top?

Frequently. Arizona utilities run seasonal efficiency rebates on qualifying high-SEER2 equipment and heat pumps, and federal energy-efficiency tax credits may apply to heat pump installations. We tell you what your specific equipment qualifies for and give you the paperwork. We are not tax advisers, so the credit itself is between you and your return.

Financing is provided by third-party lenders, subject to credit approval. Rates, terms and example figures on this page are illustrative for this demonstration website and are not an offer of credit. Thermal HVAC is not a lender and does not provide tax advice.
